Hey, as stated, i have an X-fi music card, but the advanced HD EAX wont work. The card still outputs sound from everything even games, but when i go to the sound options, EAX does apear as an option but i can only go up to v.3. So no Advanced HD stuff is selectaible, and when i do turn on EAX 3 my FPS like PLUMENTS, it goes down about 15=20 FPS! and that is probly due to my crappy processor, Celeron@2.8, but i didnt go out and buy a $100+ sound card to not get the special efects in games. so what am i doing wrong? Do i have to have the .net framework installed like ATI pushes you to do (i dont think so, but)? i have Win XP with SP2 and i just reinstalled the drivers too, and didnt work, so could somebody PEALE help me out? Thank you soooo much.

Are you switching to Game mode 1st? EAX 5 I believe only becomes avail if in game mode. As for .net not sure if you must have it but I do know some ppl were having problems with net 1.1 and updating to 2.0 solved their problems

You have to go to Game Mode;
Switch off CMSS (For Headphones, CMSS Eenabled)
Set Crystalizer to Disabled or very low less than 35%.
EQ "Off" (Depends on the type of Headphones)
Speakers to "5.1" (Headphones if using those)
and if you have a Sub
Set Enabled Basss Boost (Depends on the type of heaphones)
Test before you start up the Game.

You don't need all of the apps but you do need at least the small Control Panal app. It and the Base Drivers are all you need.

Any time you're NOT in Game mode, and start up a game, EAX is done in software by the processor and that causes the hit to performance. Plus, software can only do EAX 2 at best.
