This is my friends computer and we can't figure out what in the heck is going on with it.

a few snippets

I am really pissed. I have had my box in my signauture for about 6 months with no problems. I woke up this morning played some unreal and turned it off. I turned it on again later tonight and I got a BIOS checksum error. I thought "OK whats this", went into the BIOS and checked all setting and exited.

After this the computer would not post at all. It would turn the monitor on for a second, then it would go right back off and sit there. I messed with the seating of the ram and finally got it to boot. I went into bios and it started hard locking in bios about 4 times. I got it booted into windows finally and it will hard lock saying svchost etc etc applications are failing. Do you think this could be a motherboard problem or something else. I really dont have any spare parts to try out on my box. I just need to get my computer fixed

Ok I got a new cr2032 battery and put it in the motherboard. Started getting hard locks in the bios right away again. I rebooted and finally got it to find the raid array as first boot device and got a missing c"\windows\system32. I rebooted again and then it would hang trying to find the raid array, just keep putting dots down the screen ..........................................
I hen rebooted with 1 stick of ram and it went to windows login screen, blue screen of death, followed by a quick reboot of the system. Then it hung t windows loaded, it pretty just sat there forever while the blue loading bar was still going. This is where I am at now

i did remove the raid array and tried installing to a single 80 gig IDE drive and got the irq blue screen. One on boot the video is all garbled, the next its fine, but it will always hard lock. Sometimes it finds the raid array sometimes it doesnt. I have checked the mobo over and I dont see any capacitors that have blown. I can tell you my computer is really pissed. The memory is a possibility and blackrino is going to test it in his box tonight

God this sux, ive never seen anything like this before.

the specs
3400+ 64
1GB mushkin 222 special
2 37gb raptors raid 0
Asus KV8 Deluxe
BFG 6800GT

any suggestions?

Thanks

have you tried reflashing the BIOS, if that doesn't work, the MB might have died a quiet death,

Good Luck

* If memory serves me correctly, Bios checksum error are mostly related to a bios chip failing or detecting a partial flash. Which is this Bios chip is faulty, then it won't know what to do and i think it could corrupt the data on the drive also
