Soo, I just traded my Macbook for a Kinect and some cash.. Figured it would be fun to mess with.. I was planning on using the cash to buy some games for it but after looking at the current selection and the upcoming selection, it all looks like crap.

Current and Future game list..
Sports -> Fitness -> Disney -> Fitness -> Dance -> Fitness -> Sports..
1 driving game (Drive w/ no wheel wtf?) and 1 crappy fighting game..

I started looking at Trailers for new upcoming games and here is what I see.

Child of Eden
Has a lot of WOW factor to it.. Reminds me of that game on the PS3 called FLOW. There is no explanation of game play, just a lot of fast moving colored blobs.

Project Draco
2 guys riding dragons for 30 seconds... Thats it.. srsly..

Rise of Nightmares
Shows 2 zombie looking people for about 1/2 second each.. Credits in Japanese.. Whut?

Are there any Non-Kid games comming out that are not fitness based? I would like to see some kind of game based on problem/puzzle solving. Am I missing some better list? or is the Kinect doomed to be "Just for Kids" for the next year at least. Where the Hell is Mortal Kombat lol.. Im thinking they just went overboard with the games that make you flail like a retard and did not even bother with creating games that require careful articulation...

Star Wars Kinect looks fun. Seems to be on rails but at least it's summat different.

Project Draco is the team behind Panzer Dragoon saga so curiousity is definately high on that one. Reading up on Child of Eden sounds really cool. Creator from Rez, Space Channel 5, and and Lumines so it should be wacky fun. :)

Steel Battlalion

There is talk that some games are going to utilize Kinect as an enhancement. You use the controller still, but can extra things utilizing Kinect. MGS: Rising for example is rumored to utilize it.

Not to hate or anything, but shouldnt you see if there are games you want to play before you buy the hardware?

Yeah, but even i don't like if it'll keep my nieces entertained and off my ass, wi it doesn't reality matter.. but by the sounds of things here, I'm correct that the kinect market will be saturated with most kids games

i'm looking forward to a golf game...like tiger woods or something

For something like that that is basically intended to use a prop I figure that the Wii is a better choice. The Kinect however is meant to be a hands on interaction without props or controllers which is why it confuses me to see things like Racing games and such.

Even something as remedial as a downloadable version of Kinect Tetris would be kind of neat, just kinda seems like the game makers missed the whole point of the kinect. Note, I am saying all of this without actually having played a Kinect but I have it here sitting on my desk ready to try out tonight when I get home from work.

I don't see why the kinect couldn't use a prop. There was a video floating around where some guy had it hooked to his PC and turned a broom stick into a light saber... should be easy enough to track a golf club.

Adult Kinect owner here. I'm currently loving Kinect Sports and Dance Central so I have no need to look forward to anything. I play games for fun, not because I'm concerned someone who is insecure judges me.

Regardless going forward I'm looking into Steel Battalion, Haunt, Star Wars Kinect hopefully the rumored Kinect Gears of War.

Ugh? what? by the sound of things you've been pointed to a quite a few core gamer games.

It's also just launched. Look at all the kinect hacks and then get excited about the potential of this hardware.

Knew this would come up, and its not so much insecurity as it is bad knees and not a fan of sports games in the slightest. I know I'm prematurely bitching as the kinect has just launched, and I have seen some quite exciting consumer videos, I just want to know when some of it will be implemented. The future game list just looks really sub-par and the potential of the device has been greatly underestimated.

Are they going to patch any current games to give them a partial connect adaptation?

No patching of current games, and thats a good thing. MS has done a good job of making Kinect feel fresh and new which in part plays to its current success. Patching wonky support into existing games is not the solution.

What you need to do is simply remember this is a product launch. There are 14 titles at launch and just like any console launch its going to take a little time before the 'goods' start to release. I would gather that by this time next year there should be some 2nd gen and compelling software on the market. So long as sales remain good, I think we'll see progression with software, just like any console in the years ago.

....picturing a 65" lcd tv impaled on a 3 wood.....lol

but yea i was thinking the same thing. the way sony did tiger woods with the move looks awesome. im hoping ms will make something similar with golf as well.

Forza 4 should be cool.

eh, w/o wheel, its just gonna be a gimmick in that game. Im more interested in adult oriented games where the movement is core to the gameplay, and wouldnt be better suited with a tactile response device.

I actually want to get Dance Central. This white boy needs to learn some moves. Looks like a good work out too.

I saw the thread title and I thought this was about the porn games coming out for Kinect. I am disappointed.

I still think it's a gimmick and will never make it past dance games..Dance Central is fun, but really I just cant see anything else coming out thats going to be like "oh shit! i gotta get a kinect!". Girlfriends/Wifes and their dancing/exercising games will be all this is good for IMO. I think we paid $150.00 for a tech demo.

I think you misunderstand what MS is trying to do with Kinect at launch and who they're aiming it at. Almost certainly by this time next year you are going to see a wider variety of software that is nothing like dance games. There have already been core games announced for core franchises, and MS has confirmed that hybride Kinect/Controller based games are in development as we speak.

If you close your eyes and ears to everything thats been said for months, sure I could see that by just looking at launch software that Kinect will never advance. However, games have been announced we know what to expect for round 2 and have you seen any of these PC software Kinect hacks floating around youtube?

The sky is the limit with Kinect, MS is just making strategic marketing moves to brand Kinect at launch as 'you are the contoller' and extend sales to a new variety of consumer (wifes/gfs/daughters). The games that you are looking for are not only on the horizon, but are starting to be announced.

Like any hardware launch, there is always (always) a lull period with software from the get go. Wait, and you'll be surprised.
