Hi everyone,
I'm sure this will be an easy one for you to solve, I'm just not 100% sure I've got it right
I have a small network which includes 4 computers. Up until now it's been easy to share my ADSL connection because I have a 4 Port Alcatel Modem/Router. They all plug in and bingo - they're on the net and networked at the same time. However I'm going to be setting up a laptop and another desktop to make the total number of computers 6.
I was under the impression i could just get an 8 Port Switch and plug a straight through lead from the Alcatel Modem/Router into the Switch along with the 6 computers. Will this allow anything that plugs into the 8 Port Switch internet ready as well as being networked with all other machines?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
