Hey,

Whenever I try to load a pdf file, it begins to load then crashes. This is with both the newest versions, and with the older version, 6.0. It crashes to the point where I have to ctrl alt delete and then when I try reload the file, it just never even tries to open...and the process is still listed in the task manager, and I cant cancel it. So basically I can't open any pdf files for school, so I'm hoping for a solution.

Thanks

Foxit Reader works  Thanks alot.

And as for other things crashing, yes and no. Things, at the moment for some reason, run extremely slow, and it actually wont restart or shut down, i have to physically press the button on the case. Any ideas?

Thanks.

First of all I would take a look in taskmanager whatever is taking a lot of CPU time. Secondly, is DMA turned on? A slow hard disk can cause a noticeable performance drop. And are you sure you don't have any spyware/virus sucking out your resources in the background? It could be a number of things... :(

How do I go about turning DMA on? And as far as I know, I don't have any viruses *using adaware and norton* but I'll do full system scans today.

Thanks.

Right-click My Computer ▶ Properties ▶ Hardware ▶ Device Manager ▶ IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers ▶ Primary IDE Channel ▶ Advanced Settings. Click on the drop-down menu and select DMA if available. Click OK. If you have more drives, set them to DMA as well. You may also want to do this for the Secondary IDE Channel. :)
