Hello Agian everyone.

Ias I have been shopping for new computer componants, I have yet to ask a key question. How much will I see a difference in specific programs for Graphics.

I am looking to see what I could notice in these Graphic Cards with programs like After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Gaming everyone seems to know about, but I guess I never asked this question yet. With AfterEffects, could you answer in something like a RAM preview being processed?

you wont notice any diff, the apps i beleive can render the gui with the vid card, but when your comparing those 2 cards you will notice zero diff.

to my knowledge and i could be wrong, they have yet to actually use the GPU for any rendering / processing.
 
Wow don't get either of those, they are way overkill, if anything get a midrange 2600 or 8600 series as they have the encoding/decoding stuff built in. I've heard that the 2600 helps a lot with encoding video but no benchmarks or anything, just someone's observations when switching cards. It would explain why apple went with them for their new iMac line though.
 
The OpenGL accelerated posrtions of photoshop will see a very nice performance gain from a good video card compared to not running OpenGL acceleration. The larger the image, the more you will notice it.

However... with 3d graphics applications.. like Rhino3d and others, the acceleration helps a ton with the preview... some of them even are able to do a much more detailed and better looking preview with the acceleration.

As I haven't used any 3d applicatrions lately, I am not sure what ones can actually use the rendering capabilities of the video card to accelerate the rendering of the image.... like for ray tracing, nurbs modeling, etc. You would have to check the applicatrions specifications.
