Adjust brightness in GeForce 5200

Hi There,
I use a GeForce 5200 under Linux Redhat 9. I am driving a generic monitor from it that is overly dark. There are an number of application (e.g. GIMP, MPLAYER..) specific ways of adjusting brightness, but I can get no leads on actually getting the card itself to do it. Is there some utility I can build or some way to get X to do it?
