Address book or email app

Is there a decent address book or email app out there? I hate getting email in my browser and both Outlook and Thunderbird leave much to be desired.

I absolutely love Opera's built-in mail client.

Windows Live Mail Client is a great program and manages all the different email ac++++s with proper settings; the only downside is it doesn't work with Google Calendar or Contacts (you have to manually import them). However if you also use Windows Luve Calendar and Contacts then it can manage all your data and you can access it using Activesync over your smartphone as well

For email management alone, it is a great program and it's free

Outlook 2010 leaves much to be desired?

I don't think there is much more out there with more functionality. Maybe Lotus Notes, but I've never used that.
