my dad just gave me 2 Dual-PIII servers. he had his SCSI drives in there but he wanted me to take them out. I had no problem with this, because im just putting together a file server for myself with 2 shitty little 40gb IDE hard drives i have laying around.

so I open it up and it only has 1 ide controller on the board. the cd drive is hooked up to it, leaving only one connection open. i have a PCI IDE controller laying around. if i stick this into the computer, will it work just as i want? would i need to specify anything in the bios? would it even work?

Just plug it in and it shouldwork. The drives won't show up in your bios (the card has its own). There maybe a setting in your bios that has to be changed but I don't know enough about your setup.
