Adding window to TJ07 (any service that does it?)

I'd like to add a window to mine. I'm not very handy with tools though, don't own a dremel or saw or anything. I thought I might like a minimalistic sleek look but after owning the case a little over a year I'm really wishing it had a window.

Anyone know of a service that would allow me to send my side panel in and get one professionally installed? I've spoken with Silverstone and they were no help to me at all.

The only place that I know of that sells pre-modded case panel windows is directron. You might be able to get a window kit online and then post an ad via craigslist or go through the instructions yourself.

You could do it yourself with a coping saw and a file to finish it off with. Pretty easy if you have a plastic case, more time and elbow grease if it's metal. You'll need a drill for the mounting holes, but you can get a cheap one for ten or twenty bucks at harbor freight if you don't already have one.

Lay out the pattern with a sharpie, then drill your mounting holes.

Next, drill a hole somewhere to feed your saw blade in from, and start sawing. Take a break when your arms get tired, repeat until done.

When it's all cut out, file the edges smooth with the file, attach the window with nuts&bolts, and you're done.

Time is two hours, tops. You can do it while you are watching TV.

Well I saw that PCmords.com has some pre-made kits with instructions. What would be the best way to go about cutting the aluminum for a novice? I've heard some horror stories about dremels and I really have 0 experience at all with machining. If I screw this up then I just trashed a $300 pc case because they don't sell replacement panels for these.

A jigsaw with a metal blade is practical, or a coping saw if you are short on funds (and/or want some exercise). Clamp the piece you want to cut to a piece of plywood (so it doesn't vibrate to hell), and go slowly, letting the saw do the work.

Use eye protection and earplugs, of course.

Have you thought of contacting Silverstone and instead of asking them who they recommend for cutting a window into your case, asking if they can sell you a replacement windowed side panel for your case.....as in you broke your old one?

Since Silverstone sells a TJ07 with a windowed side panel already, they should be able to sell you a replacement windowed side panel separately.

Just a thought.

I contacted them way back when I first got the case and they told me they were unable to sell separate side panels, however that they made cases with windows, if I wanted to buy a new case... I didn't know it at the time but Silverstone makes the TJ07 out of one piece of aluminum so the dimensions between cases are slightly different since the panels are cut from the frame and they're all meant to fit together perfectly (no two cases are alike) I've contacted every Mod store I could find, Directron, Performance-PCs, but none have replied back so I going to try and add one myself with the new dremel I just bought

I contacted them and they never got back to me. I read on their forums they don't generally mod things that are irreplaceable.

Just contact hank again. Sometimes he's really busy and doesn't reply but if you shoot him another email he usually gets back to you very quickly. I know Hank will do this for you because he offered to do the same thing with me and my TJ07 had I bought it through newegg instead of him.
