ok ok I have corsair! so sue me or something...no don't Im broke now...

2x512 corsair twinx 2.2.2.5

new- 2x 1gb corsair twinx 3.3.3.8

what would be the benefit of adding those other 512 stciks in with my new ram? would it increase my performance or decrease it?

main question... if you had it and had nothing else to do with it... would you put them in?

running p4 2.8 Oc'd to 3.2
Ic7max2

thanks

Certainly not! Most systems only read the same size memory. Usually in odd slots,(1 and 3 or 2 and 4) They all need to be the same. Same speed, size, type... And preferably the same cas latency's. It's like running in a 3 legged race with someone faster. It's always better to run with someone of equal speed for a long race! I have a pile of unused chips.
(forget about it)

you can probably run with 1gb+512mb in each channel, but i'm not making any promises :(

it runs... but its a little slower then if I use just the 2 1gb sticks... these new sticks also overclock like crap! my 2.8c is barely running at 3.2... it seems these new sticks are more prone to overheating...( well I changed cases from a xaser3 with 7 case fans to a super lanboy with 2 120's... the lanboy is a ton cleaner then the xaser though... I have these sticks running at 3.4.4.8 at 229fsb 1:1 1.7V...

Is 1.7v too high? what about 1.8? ive seen some people here running at 2.8v? how is that possible? Eclipse... what would you recommend?

adding the extra gig increased my max fps on fear about 10fps my average about 3-5, and my min about 4. Im still playing with timings and other bios options.. trying to get as much fps as possible. since you play with memory so much you probably know more about the bios then i do... is there anything xtra I can do to pick up a few more fps? 5fps seems a little low for a $200 upgrade...

and as i was saying... ;)
2.6v is jedec's rating for ddr400.

also.. more ram often doesn't add fps, just smoothes things out. faster ram just does.. a minimal amount all together :( :p

OOPS! yeah sorry...lol...*grins sheepishly*

I don't know why I put 1.7... your right...

my ram is running at 2.7... ... ..."shakes head"
ok... thats why fear was so much smoother!! aaahhhh...
