I have a dual boot config. I have an IDE as my main boot drive with XP, and I have a SATA drive with XP64. I also have a second SATA for docs. These SATAs are on channels 2&3 since I didn't know 0 and 1 existed until recently.
I now just tried to add a new SATA to channel 0 or 1 (don't know which). My dual boot menu comes up, but when I try to enter Winx64 it tells me there is a hardware config error.
If I unplug the new SATA, then no problem. I assume it doesn't know how to find the x64 disk when the new drive is plugged in. Do I just need to swap the cables for the new SATA (on 0 and 1) and the booting SATA? Or is there some way to configure this in the BIOS without doing that? or something else altogether?
