I have a DVDR/W CDr/w and three HDD (WD 120GB, WD 250GB, Maxtor 80GB) is there any way to run all of the components on one system, or do really need to give something up?

Give something up, or get a pci ide card. IDE isn't the same as SCSI.

Yeah but you can run two IDE devices per channel... 2(2) = 4 from what I last recall...

However I have never tried to run an optical and a hard drive on the same channel. It should work though, just set the optical as the slave and the hard drive as the master.

I think the OP has 5 devices, and yes you can mix types around all you want.
 
There are quite a few pci ide cards for under $20... Pretty much your only choice if you dont want to give up a device as IanG suggested.

My bad, it thought that optical was one device not two... Anyway I just noticed that he had an a8n-sli, therefore he has 8 SATA ports, so an IDE to SATA converter would work too...
 
what I really need is a bunch of Sata Drives and a new computer case since I butchered this one in an attempt at modding it into the contaiment unit for zombies like the one's seen in Return of the Living Dead. I'm trying to actually find a small barrel that I could use to house the computer instead of a standard box case.
