Hi guys,

I need some help. I'm planning to add 2 gig of ram (http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=15632&vpn=KHX3200K2/2G&manufacture=Kingston) to my system. I'm currently running windows 7 32 bit.

System Spec:
DFI NF4 Utra - D
AMD Athlon 3700+
OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 Platinum Revision 2 (2x 512 MB = 1 Gig)
Nvidia 7800 GT

Overclock:
Running at 270 x 10 Multiplier = 2.7 GHz @ 1.47 Volt
CPU/Ram ratio is at CPU/12
ram timing of 2.5-4-3-8 @ 2.8 volt

Will this work with dual channel?

Thanks

You're most likely running your current RAM at 1T (Command Rate). Adding two more sticks will definitely force you to 2T, and you may or may not notice the performance difference - benchmarks drastically inflate the difference, but real-world performance is really only affected by 3-10%, which again, may or may not be noticeable to you -- so you'll have to try it out. It may also affect your OC, forcing you to lower it, slightly.

However, since the price of DDR is so high, I'd highly suggest buying used instead, and or selling all/most of your parts and doing a complete overhaul.

On a side note, from personal experience, that Ultra-D is picky with who it plays nice with. I couldn't get my OCZ Plats nor Golds working together, nor with my friend's Hyper-X, so be aware of that. Adding more ram may implicate a combination of matching the timings, voltages, having the right PSU, and having the sticks in the yellow or orange slots, along with tweaking all those RAM settings in the convoluted BIOS; or, they may just simply work, like it did for my friend when he added some XMS sticks to his Hyper X, lol (same board/cpu/oc/etc as me... grrrr).

that memory would work fine.. but be warned hyper-X ram doesnt overclock for shizat.. i currently have a single of the ram you are planning to buy and i can not exceed 425mhz on it.. now if you get lucky and it actually has the samsung ram chips in it then it can hit as high as 500mhz..

ive never used the ultra-D board so id recommend enginurd's suggestions.. but i know my DFI LP UT 250Gb board is very picky as well..

I wouldn't bother spending $100 on those DDR modules, not for a system with those specs. You should consider buying used RAM or DDR Ram that's cheaper than $100.

yeah, better off buying used ram, and perhaps the left over cash you can towards a new build. Anyway i used to mix up 2x 512mb super talent ddr400, and 2x 512mb corsair xms ddr400 sticks and they ran just fine, in dual channel. (at stock though, no oc'ing whatsoever) I also had 2x 256mb kingston hyper x ddr400, but they didnt want to run with my other sticks (not sure if its my mobo, or if the ram didnt like running with corsair ram)

Thank You guys. All of your comment and suggestions are very appreciated. I will save my money toward a new i7 core built.

Thank you again for the many helpful tips.
