Adding more hard drives

I have been reading, and havent found what I really am looking for. I have a P4P800-E Deluxe with a raid controller. I purchased 4 160GB ATA/100 hard drives a while back, but could only use two (one primary ide channel, as secondary is running optical drives). I do have the option to run the IDE port on the onboard raid controller in IDE mode, but I found that its very very laggy (like if I browse to a hard disk I get a 5+ second pause). What would be the best way to add the drives? I read here PCI ATA controllers are bottlenecks. Any advice?
Thanks,
John

Well there may be a slight latency issue when compared to the motherboard IDE controller, but I doubt anything other than a benchmark would detect the difference. I say find a PCI ATA expansion card that fits your needs and install your remaining HDs.
