I just ordered the SILVERSTONE Strider Plus 500W psu for my home server build.

I am about to sleeve every cable individually with MDPC sleeve so I will void the warranty anyway and I want to route the wires around the case and they are too short. Are there any negative affects on adding around a foot of wire to all the wires. Also would there be any problem in adding an extra sata power plug to the wire below?............

There's nothing wrong with adding a bit of length to the wires, or with adding an extra SATA connector.

I am wondering how exactly one adds a foot of extra wire to all the cables. please post photos after you are done. as for negatives. To do it right you would have do solder all the connections and use heatshrink tubing. Not a trivial task. To do it wrong, you can twist wires together and tape them up but you are going to have resistance and that means heat, especially on wires that go to the motherboard or gpu. really i'd get something with longer wires and forget this scheme of yours.

Thanks for the reply. I was fairly certain it wouldnt hurt to add length to the cables but I wasnt sure about adding the the extra sata power plug to the one wire. It came with 2 wires with 3 sata plugs on each but I would like to simplify it and put 5 on one wire. Just didnt know if each plug going into the psu could only handle so much power. I guess they both run into the psu to the same place so it wouldnt matter if it is on one wire or two correct?

Edit:

I am technically not going to add to existing wires but rather ordered new wire and pins and plan to make them all longer and recrimp new pins on each end.

More or less. Adding more current draw on a single wire creates a larger voltage drop along the wire, but it's not a real concern.

that is one side. so for the other you plan to open up the powersupply and replace the existing wiring with your new wires?

Hmmmm did you click on the link above for the psu? The silverstone strider series psu's are completely modular, meaning there are no wires straight wired to the psu. Everything has a plug on both ends. This is the primary reason I purchased this psu. It also makes your other comment above saying
really i'd get something with longer wires and forget this scheme of yours.
completely not helpful at all.It wouldnt matter what psu I purchased if I wanted custom length wires I would have to make them. Thank you though.

Thanks Zero82z. Now its time to get to work cutting wires to length and sleeving one wire at a time. Sleeving in the past I have just taken one wire out at a time to not confuse or mix up wires but this time I think I am going to attempt to basically make the 24 pin power cable from scratch. Ordered new 24 pin connectors as well so I plan to use the one that came with the psu for reference and go slowwwww. Should be fun LOL Thanks again.
