I have a Gateway E-9520T Server, I have been trying to install any drive in the front cages to no avail. So far I have been running from the onboard SATA connector (Mobo has them labeled as SATA0 and SATA5), although when testing I disconnect this OS Drive. I have tried multiple drives (making sure to use a SATA II drive that is 7200RPM), but no matter what nothing shows up in the bios. I have tried multiple settings in the bios and tried each cage individually (Only one plugs in at a time). Am I missing something? Below is an excerpt from their website for this model server.

Code:
Supports up to 10 3.5-inch hot-swap SATA or SAS hard drives (dual drive cages with five SAS/SATA hot-swap drive bays each)
Front loading, user accessible hot-swap hard drive options:
80 GB/7200 RPM SATA II/300
250 GB/7200 RPM SATA II/300
500 GB/7200 RPM SATA II/300
750 GB/7200 RPM SATA II/300
73 GB/15 K RPM SAS
146 GB/15 K RPM SAS
300 GB/15 K RPM SAS

That's the only way I've ever tried it, plugging the drive in, turning the machine on, then seeing if it was detected by the BIOS

This may be a dumb question but your post was a little unclear, have you checked in the RAID BIOS? Have you checked if it is cabled properly?
