Adding drives to an existing RAID

I'm using the built-in RAID controller on my IT7-Max motherboard to host 2 RAID arrays...both of them are RAID 1.

I want to expand one of the RAID 1's to a RAID 0+1, to go from:

2 x 250gb = 250gb usable storage

to

4 x 250gb = 500gb usable storage

Can I just tack these on through the RAID manager...or will i have to backup all my data first...then do this, then copy all of it back?
 
Depends on the controller, but most likely you'll have to back it up and then build it.
