Adding Aria Cooling

OK, so I'm looking for advice from Aria owners and modders in general. I'm thinking of putting an 80x80x25mm fan in the side.

I'm thinking it would be best to put it in this side:

On the right, above those motherboard wires.

But, it might be better next to the RAM. Does anyone know if the 25mm will clear the RAM from experience? My measurements are really close.

Are there any better ways or other suggestions to setup cooling in this thing. I have my thorton 2400+ underclocked to 1.5Ghz and it still runs at 58C and my case temps run at nearly 50. I think my harddrive is about to die.
 
25mm will clear the RAM, but not the tabs. You can file down the bottom part of the fan, though and it will fit.

You will get a better temp drop putting it on the right side, but 2 is going to be a lot better than 1. There is no active intake on the ARIA and a steady flow of cool air makes a huge difference. Trying to push air from the left through those wires is not a great idea. It will cool your GPU more than anything.

92mm fans should fit with minor filing of the lower edge. 120mm will fit with minor filing of the lower edge and cutting off the fins on the CD-ROM tray.

I've also seen someone make a thin strip directly above the CPU and cover it with modder's mesh. Looks pretty cool.

very nice! what size fan is that on the one side?

And where can i get modder's mesh. Would they have something equivalent at the hardware store? I think I'm just gonna go for it and mod the shit outta this thing tomorrow. Put 1 hole in each side, even if I only have 1 80mm fan, and make some vents in the top. And cover all those holes with black mesh.
 
I decided to go with two of the Zalman slim line 80mm fans.( One on each side)
They come with an adapter so you can run them at 5 volts for quiet operation. Plus they give a bit more room inside the case.
 
If you remove or reposition the card reader and front ports you could fit 2x 80mm or 2x 92mm front fans. Some did this and posted pics at www.sfftech.com a while back.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing myself, although I may just end up switching to the Aspire X-Qpack insted.

its not alot of work...real easy to cut into...just take your time...

I to am thinking of going to the Q X-Pack...who knows though...I just wish the handle was alot stronger..then it would be a TRUE lan case!
 
Well, all I really got to do was a hole for a fan in one side. I probably should have marked it better but it came out pretty well, although, I think I'm going to get cancer from all the burnt plastic I inhaled while trying to dremel through the insulation in the side panel. I decided to go with the side closest to the pci cards because it had the most room for error and I may yet do the other side as well. Here's what it looks like, not beautiful but it works:

I wanted to put black mesh over the hole but, well, the hole isn't perfectly round and the screws holding my fan in are pretty short and probably couldn't make it through mesh, too. I'm still considering venting the top, but that might let out too much noise from the cpu fan.
