Adding Aftermarket Cooler Killed Card?

Bought two VF3000A coolers

Installed onto an HIS 6850 and an XFX 6850XXX edition

The HIS card no issues and is working working fine.

The XFX dead. Bios doesn't even read there is a card in the PCI-E slot.


any idea what could have caused this? The exact same procedure was done to both cards.

I haven't heard of that many issues with XFX cards, is there any chance that you bent the PCB at all?

Fortunately XFX has a pretty solid warranty even for installing an aftermarket cooler, did you register the card with them?

Luckily its XFX. Their warranty dont expire when taking of the stock cooler. So you can rma it

throw back on the stock cooler, send it back and be glad xfx "happened" this time
