Adding a copper shim to GPU 5770?

I want to purchase something like this

and put it between the GPU and the Stock heatsink with AS5 on both sides. I Have read that the contact between GPU and heatsink on the Version 1 cards isnt the best. Will this work? will it crush the GPU? I want to buy it and put it on to reduce my crossfire temps.

Well...As long as your "shim" and your GPU are lapped well, and you don't over tighten the heat sink. You might be ok. Good luck! Keep us posted!
