Adding a BRASS fitting to my COPPER/ALUM loop?

Well, I've got an all copper setup with an Aluminum reservoir which I know is already advised against. But now I can't seem to find a plastic 3/8"thread-3/8"barb fitting ANYWHERE! I need it for a radiator, but I've checked two Lowe's and a Home Depot and none of them have this particular fitting in plastic, only brass. Would it be bad to add this one brass fitting to the mix? I hated chemistry in college so I'm sure how the three metals would react in this loop. It'd be threading into a copper radiator (swiftech). WC setup is in the sig.
 
An aluminum radiator is a really bad decision, what type of additive are you using?

By the way, brass won't react with either, IIRC
 
Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, so it's no problem being in a loop with plain copper. Alum. on the other hand is pretty dissimiliar electrochemically than copper, but it really posses no problem if you have some sort of additive to inhibit corrosion.
 
i had the same problem as you. went to lowes, home dept, and denalts. none of them had a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter. so i used a plastic 1/2 to 1/2 adapter and super boiling water
 
Alright, guess the brass fitting will be going back to Lowe's than. I've got a type of quick connect fitting in there now but I just don't trust it. I want something with a clamp that I can crank down on.

BTW, check my original post - I have a partially aluminum RES, not RAD. It's an Innovatek Tank-O-Matic MICRO and I really wasn't thinking about the whole Cu vs. Al when I bought it. But everything seems to be fine. No additives either, just plain Fluid XP Extreme.
 
Likely the best place to find the "Plastic" fittings you need are specialty areas that use them the most. Since you canot use brass, aluminum, or copper in Marain Fish Tanks, try sites that deal with marine fish. Most aquarium pieces arnt plastic, their Hard Vynal. But work just the same.

Yeah, I've definitly found websites that have the fitting, but it's just not worth the shipping. That is a good idea though. Maybe I'll stop by some bigger petstores or fish shops. Otherwise I'll probably just keep the fitting in that I have in now and wait till I need to place another order at FrozenCPU.com. It's just not worth placing an entire order just for that one piece.
