Need some help here, I just added a new DVD-ROM to my setup (in sig), and now windows refuses to load until I unplugged the DVD-ROM. I have my cd-rom/burner plugged into IDE 1 and the DVD-Rom plugged into IDE 2. I've tried using each of the jumper slots on the DVD rom (cable select, slave, master) but it still refused to work. And what I mean, but windows not loading is that it goes through the regular post screens and stuff like that, but then when the windows loading screen should appear, it does not, the screen just changes to a different shade of black / grey. Anyhow, anyone have any suggestions? Is there something I should install in windows to get this work, I am royally confused.

Don't know for sure, I had it working like a week ago, but windows wasn't identifying it as a DVD drive, just a CD-ROM, and that was only when I enabled IDE Bus Master in the bios of my mobo, which then created odd problems once windows started. This was a cheap DVD drive so that might be it.

I had the same kind of weirdness on my last board with a dvd rom. I ended up having to put the new drive on IDE1 and move my old burner from IDE1 to IDE2.

What board were you using?

It was an Abit board. Can't remember the exact one at the moment. It had an AMD processor... dang.

Alright, well mine is an Abit board as well, but I'm doubting its the motherboard since I'm on an Intel platform, sounds more like a bad DVD drive to me... maybe I'll swap another drive in if I have some time.
