i have a .vhd i have created of a sysprep/generalized windows 7 installation. i have set it up so that it can natively boot to the .vhd instead of the host os.

i didn't create the .vhd on this computer and virtual pc wasn't installed. i want to enable go back on the natively booting .vhd stored on the hard drive, but obviously it doesn't show up as a virtual machine because i didn't go through the normal process of creating a virtual machine with virtual pc. does anyone know how i can get it to be seen as virtual pc on the host win7 os so that i can enable undo disk changes when booted natively?

I don't know a lot about this, but I can share the little I found out myself. I was wanting to take a VHD of an image of an existing hard drive and to be able to use it within vitual PC, or any other software, not as a native boot. I couldnt find out how to do it, and so instead had to build an image from xp mode in virtual pc, and from there reload my applications/files into that image

I know you can easily move these VHD images between win7 installs with xp mode on them, and also native boot them too. I posted on it in this section a few months back.

I think XP mode has to install its own basic environment, and a VHD image of a.n.other install wont have the drivers etc - at least thats as far as I got then..

cheers
