Remember that Spybot is a program that one man, Patrick Kolla, is kind enough to provide to the Internet Community for free. He does it along with a few friends as a service, and not to get rich...obviously. Take a minute to PayPal him a couple of bucks, and thank him for the work he is doing because not everyone has a price. I doubt that Patrick will sell out to the enemy he has been fighting for years.
He's one of the good guys.

Hell, send him a dollar. Just let him know you appreciate the fact that in many instances his program has saved you from a lot of aggravation.

Dunno if you noticed, but there are 4 spyware entires that are set on ignore by default in spybot...

This pisses me off because I have sent donations before.

Lavasoft just commited internet suicide. Thats like an antivirus company making a deal with a hacker.

If you see whats on peoples computers today you'll see what i mean. (like hundreds of spywear programs)

It's always best not to depend on only one spyware program as a catch all. I run four on my boxes and each one will pick up something the others missed. On a positive note, I heard on the news tonight that Microsoft AntiSpyware will continue to be free when it comes out of Beta....something about Bill Gates being embarassed about all of the security holes in IE...imagine that :p

As far as spyware goes, I'll stick with AdWare + Spybot + Webroot's Spysweeper + Spyware begone + Microsoft AntiSpyware. I figure between all of them, hopefully most everything will be caught!
 
Reply on the matter, seems that Lavasoft doesn't consider them a high risk...

Hi all,

First and foremost, Lavasoft does not have collaborations with any company that has or will have content detected by Ad-Aware. WhenU was indeed removed from our database by research in the last definition file. This was due to WhenU not scoring more than 2 TAC points at the time. In case it turns out that the removal was incorrect, WhenU will naturally be reintroduced to the database.
