adapter question = which display port adapter?

i don't need to be told it doesn't work with eyefinity cause i know it does . just wondering which route i should guy, the mini DP to vga adapter, or the mini DP male to DP female adapter and plug my current DP to vga adapter into it?

Since you have a 5870 (as listed in your sig). Use the adapter found here http://www.amazon.com/Accell-UltraAV-B101B-003B-Display-Adapter/dp/B003HC85D2 . It's dp to vga. Though really I'd recommend http://www.amazon.com/Accell-B087B-005B-DisplayPort-Single-Link-Certified/dp/B004071ZX0 as dp to active dvi usually has less issues. If it were me unless I had one dp monitor or at least 3 dvi monitors (and using adapter above) I wouldn't bother.

going to be using the 6950 flashed to 6970. need to update sig

i already haev a dp to vga adapter that works. your dvi to dp is the 005b, the one i linked is 006b. is the 6B better?

For mdp to dvi then I'd use this adapter http://www.amazon.com/Accell-B087B-006B-DisplayPort-Single-Link-Certified/dp/B004071ZXA . It's mdp to dvi and it's active. So run two dvi displays off the 2 dvi ports and then the 3rd off the mdp with the adapter. You must also have vista/7 for the dp to work. I hope you're not running 30" displays then it's a whole new ball game with dual link dvi displays.

no i meant not using 3 x30's . i may consider that $30 adapter. i might try the $4 monoprice one as i'm thinking it will work and i'm trying to keep costs down

You should buy the mini-DP -> DP adapter and use your current DP->VGA adapter on it. mini-DP->DP is just rearranging the wires, no compatible issue will change and you already have the more expensive part, the DP->VGA active adapter.

You will also likely still have use for the mini-DP->DP adapter after a few changes in hardware a few years down the line.

yeah thats what i'm going to do barring any compatibility problems once i get it. the dp to vga was only $16 something so not all that expensive. dealextreme ftw . i just wish monoprice would get it back in stock sooner.
