ad filter?

[Lost4Cause]

I'm not even sure what I'm looking for but here goes: I want some way of blocking those stupid ads like on hotmail, yahoo email, neopets, etc. I'm sick of those things popping up and slowing my surfing donw. Complaints to the various site admins do no good, so how about a few suggestions?

Win 98SE compatible, no big deal to me if its shareware or commercial---for something like this I'd be more than happy to pay.

First of all .. Do NOT BLOCK ANY ADS on this forum, so I will mention ad-block for Firefox but I strongly standby this rule http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=905051

Wasn't planning on blocking them from here, HF doesn't put 2-5 per page like the sites I named do--and they aren't that bad of ads from what I've seen. Got any suggestions for Netscape? Firefox doesn't like my computer, keeps locking it up no matter where I get the download from.
