Hey guys, i have both of these programs Ad aware 6.0 professional and Spyware hunter. Even after installing these two programs, having them scan and delete files i still get redirected when i try to go to a web page, so what i have to do is yahoo or google the page and then click on the link other wise i wouldn't be able to access it. Is there something else that i skipped or need to do. I'm not very good with computers so sorry if the answer to this problem is easy thanks.

SpyBot S&D
HiJack This
AVG Free

Try them and then post results. Also you should invest in a decent software firewall (I like ZoneAlarm) and run a more secure browser than internet Explorer. (FireFox, ect)

There nothing to fear! Except not having your startpage changed once a week and an intergrated popup blocker......
Hell I used IE too. Until some worm fucked up my system and I had to reformat. Learned the hard way.

got spybot S&D and its just the same, so what else is there? Will HiJack This make a difference?

I had the same problem, there was something on my computer that kept switching my registary keeys and sending me to different websites, I eventually discovered a way to reverse what it was doing but had to keep reversing it every few days since I could never find the program.. I eventaully just re-installed windows...

Where exactly does it re-direct you too?

Some of these things need a "stinger" to uninstal them and block them.

Also, do you have your activex controls disabled?

sent me to a search engine I never heard of... and added porn pop ups everywhere I went

Try these:
Hijack This...to get rid of the process that is taking over.
Firefox...as a logical alternative to Internet Explorer.
IE Eradicator, to avoid any temptation to ever use Internet Explorer ever again...even if you have to buy XP Lite to get it. :D
