Will this work with an Eyefinity Set up using 3 DVI monitors (2 DVI>VC, and DVI>this adapter>displayport>VC)
 
i bought this accell adapter and currently it's working in desktop but it's shutting the monitor off when i start a game.

CCC tells me it's something with the cable/adapter then it wont come back on until i reboot.

it stays in eyefinity mode but the monitor just never comes back on... it actually wasn't working at all until i plugged it in a bunch of times

i don't understand why this is... :(

edit:
it seems if i change the 'preferred monitor' to the dp monitor after launching a game it'll start working, then when i quit the game i have to do it again with another monitor...weird

Glad the prices of the active adaptors have finely comes down to earth at a reasonable price point.
I'm sure the guys that paid $100 for an active adaptor are feeling a kidney punch.:p
I will probably get one for another LCD; not for game playing; for Linux since it supports it nicely and WinXP doesn't.

The $100 adapters still have their place. IIRC, they're still dual-link vs. the cheaper single-link models.
 
I just bought a Accell, newer model then this one. When I first plug it in, it detect the monitors sometimes. But the screen will flicker and it will not stay there. Especially when I select it in Cat Control, it goes away. I've tried my friends Saphire adapter with same luck. This sound like my card is bad?

I bought this as well and had to return it. It worked on my system but caused constant flickering on my screen. I have a XFX 5950 video card so I am not sure if it was my card or the adapter.
 
I've got the same one, payed $33 shipped all in for this thing (In Canada)I do get a flicker that goes across one of the screens every couple of seconds, it might be because I've got it connected via DVI>Acell>Mini DP>Card.
 
Those adapters aren't powered so don't have a clock on them as I understand it. Cards only support two dvi/hdmi clocks off the display ports. So you can only use two of those non-powered adapters. On a 6950 or 6970 that's probably not a problem since there are only two mindp ports to adapt to dvi. The adapters are also single link as has been said, so have 1920x1200 8bit max color (16.x million colors, which is what most lcds are anyway).

....On an eyefinity6 card in the 5000 series, this becomes an issue. For example, I am setting up a 27" cinema display (with minidp input) flanked by two 19" dvi monitors in portrait mode. I have two of the non-powered minidp to dvi adapters. If I were using an eyefinity 6 card (6 minidp outputs only) and I wanted to add any other monitor I currently own, I would have to buy the $86 powered adapters for each dvi/hdmi monitor I wanted to add. The powered adapters have a usb cable on them to supply power, which you can keep connected to a powered hub so that they aren't depending on the system being booted/awake.

Thats the way I understand it from what I've read, whether the non-powered ones are labeled "active" or not. So depending on what rez your are adapting to, and how many dvi/hdmi monitors you are driving off minidisplayports, you may still need the $86 ones.. perhaps several in some cases.

I have a 6950 card. I was directed by a friend and another [H] Member the adapter should work. Like I stated above, sometimes the monitor will appear in the catalyst controls. But all the screens will flicker and it will go away. If that's because its not powered and not a true Active Adapter, okay then. Then I hope amazon will take back this other one, since the box was destroyed open getting it out lol.. probably already buried in the trash.
 
I currently use one of the Accell DVI to MiniDP active adapters. Works great and I run 3 monitors off of my 6870. Costs like $20-25 too. Only supports up to 1920x1200 resolution tho. If you are going up to the 2560x1600, you'll have to buy the more expensive ($70-100) active adapters. Otherwise, just get any of the cheaper Accell ones.
 
Yeah, I should mention and just thought... I have a mini DP to DP (saphire), (Acell) Active DP - DVI adapter. I'm wondering if the mini DP to DP is causing the problems.
