Acrylic,Lexan,Plexi, Heater ??

I'm trying to find an affordable plexiglass heater to bend the plexiglass,lexan,Acrylic.

I have also a few other questions:

#1- Does anyone know the best "glue" to bond lexan or plexi together? i've hear about weld-on #16

#2- What is the recommended thickness to make computer case?
Is it better lexan or plexi is fine?

#3- What kind of cutting tools do you recommend for lexan,plexi?
 
For heating, I've always used a heatgun sitting upside down on a table. I heard a jigsaw works to cut it, then file it down, then sand. I dont know what kind of glue to use, but my old shop teacher used to use some stuff that would like... 'melt' the plexi together.
 
TAP Plastics also had a strip style heating element for sale... more expensive than a simple heat gun, but it can heat the whole area for a fairly large bend pretty easy and very evenly.

This plastic strip heater is a very light duty strip heater. The strip must be on the acrylic sheet for up to 20 minutes to bend 1/8" material, even longer for thicker material. Safety note: Never leave the strip heater unattended when in use.

20minutes for a 1/8 is pretty long ehhe
I might buy the more powerfull unit at 155 - 195$ with a few friends.
 
this is a simple item.... just probably hard to find. I really think that it could be had for a reasonable price (maybe just above the $45 bucks, but for something more powerful).

Anyone found to be using plexi where lexan could be used must be shot, burned, and fed to wolves. All at once.
 
I use this for many things, but I have never tried it on Lexan....maybe I will since I am drawing out some custom designs that I am wanting to use in an upcoming 'from scratch' pc that I am wanting to make.
