I made a backup .tib file and saved it to my desktop. it is 19 gb and I am trying to drag it to my external HD that has 95gb free space and it is giving me a message saying there is not enough space. It does not make sense to me, anyone have this problem?

Your backup drive is prolly formatted with fat32. 1 file at 19gigs is a no go under that file system.. If possible reformat the external drive with ntfs. Or have Acronis split the file into several smaller pieces.

Edit: If you use the latter method, then have Acronis split the file into pieces just under 4 gigs in size. This will get you under the Fat32 single file size limit and also leave an easy path to burning them to dvd.

What he said. You can convert the drive to ntfs or reimage and slit the file into smaller ones.

I thought NTFS also had a limit of 4GB per file.

Keith

Actually it's single file size limit far exceeds that of any single drive I have ever heard of.

According to Wikipedia it is "Theoretical: 16 EiB minus 1 KiB (264^64 − 210^10 bytes). Implementation: 16 TiB minus 64 KiB (244^44 − 216^16 bytes"..
