I have a Windows Small Business Server 2008 box that I am wanting to set up a disc imaging solution for. The current setup is like this:

-Raid-1 mirrored hard drives, ~400GB data
-Crashplan backup to "the cloud" as well as hot-swappable internal drive

I would like to be able to automatically create an image that can be copied over in a disaster for minimal down time. What is the recovery process like for Acronis True image? Is there a better solution out there? I am assuming this would require identical hardware in the event of a component getting fried, is this correct?

Thanks if advance for any insight. :)

cheapest way I can see is the following

Purchase Acronis True Image Echo 9.5 Enterprise here: http://buyoemsoftwareonline.com/catalog/acronis-true-image-echo-enterprise-server-9-5.php

Register the product with Acronis. No need to install it.

That will allow you to purchase this: https://store.acronis.com/325/purl-abr11sbs-upg_en-US

Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Advanced Server SBS Edition with Universal Restore Upgrade (English)

Should cost about $360 total. Which is almost $500 less than purchasing it Full Retail.

This version of Acronis can back up to the cloud and comes with a universal restore license which allows you to reinstall to dis-similar hardware.

It's a great product.

That is a fantastic idea... I will definitely have to give it a try, thanks! :)

good info, we considered this in our office but the per server licensing was just a ridiculous price.

I use Acronis in our office for the few servers that we have and it works great.

A PDC w/ RAID 1 had multiple drive failures (they were 8 years old....). Rather than try and rebuild I just put 4 new drives in, built a new array and restored the image to it. I think it took less than an hour and a half from the server crapping to being back up and running.

This sounded like such a great idea that I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately the serial given for Acronis True Image Echo 9.5 Enterprise is not accepted when I try to register it with acronis. In fact on the download page for the product after purchasing it states "You WILL NOT be able to register online the software with the manufacturer. All software will work without online-registration because all our softwares are OEM version." :( bummer

sounds legit!

This is what i don't like about that site

1. Why does your software is cheaper then the original software?
That's all because we offer only copies of license versions.
This mean that you will not receive any printed documents (license or instruction) - just files and instruction in notepad's format
