acronis doesn't work

I have a compaq v6171Cl laptop with a sata 80 gb drive.
I installed acronis true image 9 and backed up the partition to a usb drive.
created a boot recovery cd. I then installed a 120 gb sata drive and booted from the cd.
I got an error message bios bug 81 but acronis still loaded. however after selecting the usb drive image file acronis then locked up. I don't think the sata drivers were transferred to the boot cd and true image can't see the new drive. Help? is there any good software out there that does support sata drivers on the boot cd?

120gb sata drive
geforce 6150 w nforce 410/430
dvd8x burner
Turion TL-50 X2
