Acer XG270HU - Freesync!(?)

So the Acer XG270HU was originally a G-Sync model but now Acer is annoucing a Freesync one. Their price is 500 dollars. This is interesting, because it undercuts the exact same specs of the BenQ by 150 dollars.
The specs is bascially the same as ROG Swift but with thin bezels for that stylish look.

I created a seperate thread because of the Freesync/AMD variety.
It'll be interesting to see if there are differences between the GSync version and the Freesync version in how they manage adaptive sync. (In other words: is it worth it to pay the so-called "Gsync tax"?)

I can already see it in store in inet.se, a Swedish etailer. March 10ths if the prelim. date.

Here's techpowerup's story. They don't have a price, but I took that from Inet(Sweden has 25% VAT plus import duty, you take that away and you get about 500 dollars).

Now more stores have it. Most have a late-march deadline. Inet are often quite optimistic about their delivery times.

I've ordered one. I want a monitor with very low input lag and this will be a lot cheaper than the BenQ Freesync model. I'll see if I'm happy with it, the worst thing to happen is that I'll give it back.
If anyone would want an IPS one, I'll would say take the Asus MG279Q, which is 300 dollars cheaper than the totally overpriced Acer XB model. But only if you don't want to pay the 200-300 dollar G-sync tax.

The Acer should have better overdrive than the XL2730Z, I believe BenQ will have to release a firmware update for that one.

Hexus has some strange contrast and latency measurements that are often different on other sites....
They should both have input lag below one frame, as is common for gaming monitors.
The FreeSync window is bigger on TN compared to IPS panels, hopefully this will change in the future, as well as the lower range (theoretically it could go down to 9fps) and the rendering of framerates below the window, which is handled better by G-Sync:

The most significant issue pertains the noticeable transition between FreeSync and non-FreeSync zones, particularly if that's a frequent occurrence. In that instance gamers should consider lowering game settings to avoid dropping out of the FreeSync range and hope that AMD presents a driver fix for the issue in the near future. Nvidia's G-Sync deals with this specific issue by implementing a frame-duplication algorithm for low framerates. The Nvidia driver duplicates frames by varying magnitudes, two times for 19 to 38fps and three times for 14 to 18fps for example, to ensure the refresh rate of the panel stays around or above 40 and thus, cleverly, the gaming experience stays smooth.

Looks like this will be the one I get. Was thinking about the mg279q, but after the recall issue and the freesync range, I will pass. I was mostly considering the mg279q because it was an IPS, but the reviews all said that the color is close to or on par with IPS's. I bought into the IPS snobbishness, but after reading up on both monitors, I can see the reason to go with the mg279q over the xg270hu. Color is good, response time is great, and I don't tend to look at my monitors from the side. My current 34um95 will get used for dirt rally. Also thinking about the xr3501.
