Acer X34 Mount

Can anyone recommend a good replacement mount for the X34? The included one works rather terribly with my desk and results in the screen being positioned about six inches from my face.

I'd be open to either a wall mount or a mount that clamps to the back of a desk, as long as it lets you position it flush against the wall so I can get some separation compared to now.

A lot of the mounts I'm finding either cap out at 27" or are for TVs and thus have mounting components bigger than the X34. So any recommendations from people that have a replacement mount would be appreciated.

Look at the weight rating, not necessarily the size. Current monitors are generally much lighter than older models. And size itself isn't an issue unless you are talking about multi-monitor mounts.

Thanks, going by weight rather than size makes sense.

Unfortunately I just went and bought an articulating arm mount that clamps to my desk, only to find that the back of my X34 is missing two rivet nuts, so I can't attach the plate. No idea where they went or if it ever had them -- the included stand has a metal piece that protrudes into the plastic and holds the monitor in place, so I never even noticed the lack of screws at the top.

I'll have to figure something out for that, maybe toggle bolts.

Can you send a photo of the back of your panel?

How did you remove the stand. I found the first time I removed the stand it tried to leave a plate on the back of the panel.

Or do you mean screws? The 4 screws that are used with the X34 stand are too long for most VESA brackets. In your X34 box you will find a metal adapter plate. There are 4 screws with this plate that are shorter and you can use them to screw the VESA bracket directly to the back of the panel.

I didn't use the adapter plate since my VESA mount fit perfectly in the back of the panel, plus I didn't want the extra inch from the adapter.

Sideways but the ones on the right are at the top. There's no silver rivet nut, nothing to screw a screw into, just empty holes.

I bought it refurbished so maybe they were never there. I think the mount I bought would work fine if those rivet nuts were present or if I used really tiny toggle bolts or something like that.

Where did you get the refurb from? Can you return it? There should definitely be rivet nuts and I wouldn't try toggle bolts since you don't know what is immediately behind the panel.

If you can't return it I would pull the panel back off and install replacement rivet nuts or whatever Acer used.

It was from their official refurb site, way too long ago to return it. I don't think I can get the back panel off either. No idea how or why they aren't there.

Edit: I ended up removing the metal plate from the included mount, bolted it to the plate on my new mount at the top holes, and then screwed in the bottom holes normally. With that extra metal at the top that slots into the monitor, it seems to hold fine.
