Acer P235 or Samsung 2494SW

Need advice on monitor:

Current monitor is a Samsung 22" Flat panel LCD which I picked up on Newegg last year on sale during Black Friday for $150. Resolution is 1680x1050

I am considering replacing it with one of these:

1. Acer P235Hbmid Black 23" ($140)

or
2. SAMSUNG 2494SW Glossy Black 24" ($170)

Both of these screens do 1920 x 1080 and the extra desktop space is the reason that I am considering upgrading. I would only do it if the image quality is equal or better than my current monitor. Which is the best monitor for gaming, programming, office, and internet browsing?
 
honestly i doubt youd notice the desktop space, i would be thinking more the samsung purely based on their customer service policies. if something goes wrong they repair or replace it. they dont refurb anymore. samsung is also a better product imo. dammit why are they still making glossy bezels....ugh
 
Ok, decided to cancel the order. Reason is because my Samsung monitor is a 2232 SW. Although the contrast on both of those monitors is better, I would be downgrading from 2 ms response time down to 5 ms response. That's too much of a sacrifice.
