Acer Aspire 5313 no post

Grandson"s Acer laptop will not Post past the Acer splash screen.
Black screen with blinking cursor only.
Still able to enter BIOS with F2 key and make changes.
Cooling fan runs for second or two then stop.

HD tested good, re-sitted memory sticks.

Any idea?

Disable keyboard error check. If there is a stuck key, it may refuse to boot.
Try booting into a live CD of some kind. Anything will do really, this will tell you if the pc will still function. If it boots, either your boot settings are messed up, or your HDD is dead. You say it's good, but I don't know how you're testing it.

Might want to try resetting the MBR.
