im primarily doing considering these two monitors. Im guess the battle will be features vs size.

acer pros:
5ms
22in
16x10(good thing dont have a powerfull gpu)
cheap

dell pros
portrait
usb hub
better dot pitch
cheap

what i wanna know is, does the acer tilt? hdcp? usb ports? not alot of info on this monitor yet.

Thats all? How about the fact that the acer is a tn and the dell is a s-ips panel? Thats not important to you?

The Acer tilts but doesnt pivot. Number of pixels are the same as the Dell. Dell 2007s are not always SIPS -the panels vary. All panel technologies have issues - only the AS-SIPS (the NEC 20" ) seems to meet unanimous acclaim - but for $600 it should.

I have a 2216 and I'm very happy with it. If I'd paid todays prices ($330?) I'd be even happier.

sorry i meant wfp.
i've seen TN panels and i've seen s-isp panels. Frankly, glossy coating is more of plus to me than the difference in panels.

acer pros:5ms

It's a lie. It's slower than Dells 16ms so what does that tell you about the companies?

Means very grainy, you'll be able to see pixels if you got 20/20 or better..

You get what you pay for. Unless it's from Dell who has such massive volume every monitor they sell is worth 25% more with same panel in other parties..NEC, Sony, LG etc...

Get the Dell. It's by far better tech, warranty, and ergonomics.

I guess tightline owns a Dell 2007 but not an Acer 2216

No I do own several Dells LCD's but not that one.. I have seen them both. No competition. Acer is taking the bigger must be better approach which is fine size does have value but it look like ass compared to Dell IMO. Dells not completly innocent either.. it's crap shoot whether you get the quality panel or the one just a little better than the Acer has.
