Lately I've been wanting a new LCD to replace my aging NEC LCD1760V. I already have a 2005fpw and while I love it I've been wanting to get a monitor with a glare coating since the sparkle/screen door effect on the 2005fpw is getting annoying. The Acer AL2051W seemed like a good alternative to the expensive NEC but I can't seem to find one anywhere from any reputable dealers. Anyone know where I can pick one up or are there any other good glossy alternatives for the price?

Go there and search for that monitor....they show retailer ratings so you can get it from someone reputable.

Go to www.tigerdirect.com and do a search. That is where I bought mine and I had no issues. Great LCD by the way. I use it for my 360 and for general computer stuff, works great and it looks fantastic. I really like the glossy finish, reminds me of the good ol CRT days.

Hold on, my bad. I searched the site, and they apparently do not have this model anymore. Its a shame, because I got mine for only $325.

If they are really hard to find (even from Acer recommended vendors) thats a pretty good sign that Acer is about to release a new model and stopped production of that particular one....I know that the AL2032W is discontinued even though it's still on their site. You might want to wait a little while and see if they have an improved version.

This model's too new though.

I bought mine from Tiger for $350, who is no longer selling it. It may come back on sale, but I'd consider buying the S-IPS Acer F-20 instead.

Acer's are your only glossy option in this price range. The Asus 201 is like $500+ and the NEC is $600.

Oh, my bad..I didn't know it was a new model. I guess demand outstripped supply. Yeah, the F-20 has a really vibrant picture..I was worried because I heard of the slower response of the IPS panels but I guess the overdrive does a good job of keeping up (at least gray to gray) because it doesn't bother me in the games I play.
