Acer 22": Good?

I think all 22" models are not that great and experience the same issues.
With that said, I went with the Samsung 22".
It is acceptable for me now but I know I will be upgrading this Summer or Fall.

What are you looking to upgrade to? Do you have anything specific in mind?

i'm also lookin for an LCD.. 22, 24 or larger.. i haven't found a single one that has enough positive reviews that i would feel comfortable purchasing yet :(

I owned one for a few months for PC gaming mostly (Guild Wars and CS: Source). Besides the noticeable but not annoying backlight bleeding, I actually liked it.

I will probably be getting the BenQ FP241W. (see the large thread on it)

I just picked up an Acer 2251W from tigerdirect.ca Great monitor, 5ms 800:1 DVI with HDCP was advertiesed to have crystalshine (glossy coating) but does not have that type of screen. Either way its a very nice monitor, i can't imagine the 2216 being any worse.

Well my max budget is 300. So I figured that a 22" would be the biggest I could get for that price. I have also looked Sceptre x22wg and 22" Chi Mei...any thoughts?

there are some threads on the sceptre on this forum and others. sounds crappy, i don't think i would take the chance (unless you have a Costco card, in which case trying one out is about as risk-free as you can get, since they carry the sceptre 22s).

Also some threads on the 22" chi mei.. i've heard both good and bad, but less bad than about the sceptre.

i think that other people think that 22" monitors are bad because 20" monitors have the same resolution therefore 22" monitors have worse picture quality. Also the backlight bleeding....im still gonna get a 22" though. maybe the sceptre, maybe the samsung, maybe the chi mei, maybe the viewsonic.......looking for opinions here

Well I find that 1680 x 1050 is a little small for my taste on a 20"...I have owned several Dell 2007wfp (hated all three).

I am leaning towards the acer because my friend has a 19 inch LCD from them which is really great and I have owned a acer laptop which I really liked.

Backlight bleeding has nothing to do with screen size, it happens to all size monitors.

The acer seems really popular on other forums as well, so I think I am going to go with it.

I own the 22 inch acer, and aside from the not-so-great viewing angles, I love it. I don't know why people knock the 22's so much.. it's fast and has very nice colours. Viewing angle for me is a non-issue because I sit right in front of the screen, not off to an angle. However, I did just replace it with a 37 inch Westinghouse and it's now on my secondary computer. For the price, you CAN'T beat the 22 inch Acer.

ok your right. i might go with the acer. i gotta go to best buy and see how big 22 inches actually is. i can guess but i still dont know.

22 inches is a nice size. The only thing I do not like on the Acer is the buttons that hang down a little on the front, not a big deal though, wont be looking at those when using it so.

I used to own an acer 22" before I traded it away.. only thing I didn't like about it was it's flimsy base/stand. Other than that, I loved it.

I think my dad is going to let me have his VESA mount for his Sony TV so I will probably replace the stand of whatever monitor I get with that.
