my thoughts are...that would probably be more productive than ranting on some internet forum. That's just a guess though.

Dude, just reactivate it, stop your bitching and whining and get it done, I've had Vista ask for activation after replacing the memory modules with different ones, but same brand, it didn't ask for an activation when I upgraded my video cards either, interesting, but not worth typing out a thread and starting to complain, in that time you could have had it activated and gone on your way.

Nothing gets more work done than ranting on internet boards.....nothing.........except maybe beating dead horses.

All these posts were made at the beginning of the threads in Operating Systems forum.
To me they seem like thread craps and flames, but I've reported and again, nothing.

So is this acceptable behavior?

Acceptable behavior = NO

Mods running round chasing each little imperfection = NO

But really tho, that guy came here and started complaining BEFORE he had even called MS.

Well I don't really know what goes off. But I've sure seen Major in there a few times. :)

I understand what your saying OP, however, sometimes in life we just have to let the small things go.

yes and he stops it for the most part
I dont know who else is supposed to be helping when hes not around but he/she is not doing it

these arent small things. this has gone on consistently.
Someone says Vista feels slow....... STOP YOUR BITCHING
Someone says Office is borked...... YOURE SUCH A WHINER
Someone asks about Activation...... QUIT RANTING

I just want to know from a mod/admin why it is allowed to continue from the same people

bob and odoe? i havent seen a single one of their replies in weeks... are they even active anymore

RangerSVT does a lot of trolling, its easy enough to just add him to your ignore list. I have never had any personal problems with him per se but it is a given that his posts are more flame than substance, so you aren't missing anything other than the standard regurgitated common knowledge by filtering them out. If you notice a pattern with another user, adding them to your ignore list would be much more effective rather than reporting every post that doesn't meet your criteria for acceptable behavior.

Forum conflicts are small FUCKING potatoes compared to real life issues like losing your job. That was really what I was hinting to.

As far as these guys rude comments, I know how you feel about them. Time and time again people are blatantly rude and flame. Is making this thread really going to amount to anything? Probably not. There will always be this type of behavior, my advice to you is to just brush it off your shoulders.

So you are saying people should ignore trolling?

Whilst it brings teh quality of the forum down?

Sigged.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the first quote in the OP, just because he said the word Rant?

rant - a loud bombastic declamation expressed with strong emotion

I am saying that the forum has a built in ignore feature that you could take advantage of...

whilst leaving the mods to judge "teh quality" of the posts here.

.

dude what are you talking about?? this isnt the "I lost my job" forum...... you're so off-topic I really dont even know why youre posting this here. no computer hardware does not compare to losing ones job... are u suggesting we remove all forums and just replace it with one "my life sucks" forum?

So if someone accuses you of ranting, you wont get offended? Read the OP, the guy was anything but ranting. If someone accuses me of ranting when I'm not, that's rude. and there is a rule against rudeness

Now I KNOW why people responded to you the way they did. Read my previous posts carefully.

im well aware of the ignore feature (see sig)

the problem is that the flaming is pervasive in Operating Systems and Gaming forums. Intel forum, fine. Amd forum, fine. Gen hardware, fine. Operating Systems, flame fest.

I have no problem ignoring them, but what about some newbie who just signed up to this forum to ask about Vista? Do you really think its ok to let the trolls rip him to shreds just so they can get their internet rage out of their system? I dont

Bringing the overall quality of the forum down?

If we are talking about the OS forum, I think Odoe does a decent job moderating. As far as the OP, I looked it up and it seems this is the second time he started a thread about this. I just want to know if he is on some personal crusade or doesn't have anything else to do.

Just to say; the point in this thread was to bring up the point of unacceptable behavior. There seems to be more ranting and flaming in this thread then some of the threads in question.

yeah there seems to be some trolling going on here

what I dont get is, the same people who demand I "just let it go" would go out of their way to voice their opinions on this thread... let the trolling go on, but the questioning of the trolling needs to stop?

anyway I think it would just be best if one of the staff could take a look at the threads and see if theres anything wrong

move along folks

Start using the report post button if you have issues with specific posts. If there are people that you have issues with, put them on your ignore list.

To directly reply to osalcido about what he thinks the staff should be doing.....if YOU do not use the report post button, you are doing nothing but causing more problems....as you can see has happened above. The report post button would have not caused this mess and kept your issues private. We have an entire hidden forum for nothing but reported posts, so please use the button and give your exact reason as what you think is wrong with the post.

To answer some specific questions, it's absolutely ridiculous to say it's offensive to say someone was ranting. I use that word all the time, and in no way EVER is it offensive. If anyone was offended by saying a comment was a rant, you should see a psychiatrist to deal with your self-image issues, rather than spend your days posting on an internet forum. That person would never make it in the real world, in a real job, if that offends them.

Rather, the person who came up with this comment has likely been warned in the past for trolling and making rude comments, based on the fact several of their comments have been removed by mods. Now, this person is trying to act on the "righteous" side of the law, and trying to point fingers at others.

As said before, there was nothing wrong with my post that was quoted here. Not one word was offensive in that statement, and I feel truly sorry for anyone who thinks that there was. This has turned into a classic example of someone who's been caught trolling and called on it by several people....then turns to run to the mods (mommy and daddy) to protect them.

Here's my suggestion. Learn how to deal with people in society, with it be here or in real life. Learn that not everyone is being mean, simply because you don't agree with what they have to say. Learn to contribute to topics, rather than post unrelated, troll-like comments that the mods end up removing. This is supposed to be a forum where people come for help or to discuss enthusiast computing topics, not a topic for people to whine and complain that someone doesn't agree with them, or someone hurt their feelings by not agreeing with them. The mods have enough to do....babysitting shouldn't be one of them.

No one was telling the OP to leave class and call Microsoft....although I did enjoy the comment about how the OP should have been paying attention in class and not surfing the forums. I skated through some classes back in my college days by doing that, instead of paying more attention, and I regret doing so.

pics or shens :D

Come one Kyle, you know there IS something wrong on the OS and GS forums, its an attitude issue which comes back year to year, regardless of the warnings :(

Stay out of the kitchen if you can't handle the heat.
