Accelero X1 or VF900-Cu?

I'm going to get an aftermarket cooler for my graphics card, but I'm having trouble deciding which one I should get. The Accelero X1 and VF900-Cu seem pretty close in performance, with the VF900-Cu leading slightly in performance and the Accelero X1 leading slightly in noise. The big difference between the two are the price--around a $20 difference with the Accelero X1 being the cheaper one.

I'm going to put this cooler on a 7900GT. Which one would be the better buy--Accelero or VF900? I'm trying to get the most bang for my buck.

Oh, and also, are there any other good VGA coolers other than these two? It must be below $40 and must be silent/barely audible.

Humn - I'm not sure whether the Accelero X1 will fix to your card, but think it won't. :-/

it's only capable for the NV 7900 GTX, GTO.

Another alternate besides the zalman would be the Revoltec Graphics Freezer Pro with a fan-mod.

The vf900 cu seems like a pretty good cooler. My 7600GT (at 590/1600) idles around 35*c with that (and some AS5).

Seems to me that the current "air cooling" trend is leaning towards heat pipes. The Zalman vf900 uses heatpipes.... not sure if the accelero or any other GPU HSF uses heatpipes. I'm very pleased with the performance of my VF900 (it replaced an ATI artic cooler, and lowered GPU temps by 6C). I also liked the fact that the VF900 GPU cooler didn't also cover the RAM chips, and Zalman supplied seperate heatsinks for them (although I used copper Swiftechs instead)

Cost is always a consideration, with Zalman you are paying a little more than the competition, but I think the cost is justified with the R&D Zalman puts into their products.

I have a Accelero X2 (for ATI cards) and they have heatpipes, I can see them.

But I would go with the Zalman. I don't know that much about the vf900 cooler, but all my Zalman coolers have been very good.

I just saw this tonight:

check out www.thermalright.com for a tad more info on it.

I was thinking of getting a VR-1 or Accelero for my x1800xt, but never did. Now this comes out...looks like a damned SI-120 for the video card. It also says it's SLI/Crossfire friendly...

haven't seen a good review on it yet though. must be REALLY new.

I'm running my 7900GT at 630/810 with a 1.3V mod (from 1.2) and it never goes above 56C in games (60C with the ATi Tool test) on just a VF700. My case is pretty cool (32-34C) so that might be part of the great performence but if you're not volt modding then a $20 VF700 should be enough.

Also, those temps are with my fan mod. All you have to do is slip the wires out of the power connecter on the cooler by pushing the little metal tabs with a pin. Then connect the two wires to the card by putting each one between a pin and the plastic near it. The metal of the tabs acts like a spring between the plastic of the fan header and pin, make sure you don't mix up the black and red wire.

With that, I ran the fan from the graphics card's Bios at 40% during load and 25% idle. It's silent at both settings.
