I was wondering if Acbel PSU's are any good. I know they've OEM'ed some IBM PC's before but I haven't heard of anyone mentioning them on here. How would they compare to Zippy and Enermax?

My old IBM Aptiva has an ACBel 95W mATX PSU, with a whopping 1.5A on the +12V rail. I think ACBel makes Coolermaster's new ATX12V v2.0 PSUs... but don't quote me on that.

I'm looking to get it as a gift for someone. They have an iCute case with a generic POS PSU right now. They sell the 350W Enermax for 100NZD which is about 70USD here. Everything is overpriced but the AcBel PSU's are relatively cheap for their rated wattage, but I've got no experience with them at all. How reliable was it/are they?

ACBel does indeed make Cooler Master's power supplies. Their 450W Realpower looks like a very efficient unit according to reviews. So I think they would be a pretty good choice and should be about the same quality as Enermax I believe. Zippy, however is in another league above both ACBel and Enermax.

It is a pretty solid PSU, being only rated at 95W and only being able to put out 1.5A on the +12V. It will be six years old this coming summer. If you want a review of the new Coolermaster Real Power PSU, check this link out. They know what they're doing when it comes to testing PSUs. If ACBel can put out this kind of product, I would be pretty confident about their other models.
