The charger for my laptop bit the dust and I am looking at getting a replacement.
Locally, all I can find are universal chargers (the kind where you switch the voltage manually). I tried one out and it SEEMED to work fine (it started to charge) but when I compared it to my old adapter, everything was the same except for the wattage. The universal was 90w and my adapter was 65w. Will the 90w unit still work or till it be too much for my battery? Is it like power a desktop power supply where the wattage can vary?

Extra wattage capacity on the replacement power adapter won't hurt, the unit will only draw as much power as it needs to operate.

KK thanks. I actually found an official adapter online for pretty cheap.

haha... my old cable guy wanted to blame me for having a 1.2a power pack on the bad modem that calls for 1 amp. voltages and polarities were all otherwise the same. he's like "well, we wont charge you this time" im like "get out of my house" haha
