How much did you your case temps go up after installing the thing? It seems to me like my ambient temps were much lower before, by about 10c and afterwards my CPU fan was constantly spinning at 100% to keep up. Does this happen to everyone else?

The X2 doesn't evacuate air from the case, so it's very possible that your case temps are rising if you can't get the hot air out.

I still think that the X2 is a requirement on X1800 - X1900 cards because the fan is nearly silent and the temp imporvement is very substantial. Just make sure you have decent case air flow.

As an aside, I just removed my X2 yesterday to install a water block. The thermal tape that comes with the X2 is REALLY STICKY. Heating with a blowdryer and twisting didn't work, and I feared beraking the card. If you want to get that stuff off, drop a few drops of goof-off onto the accessible tape, wait a minute, and then twist.

If anyone wants my X2 with hardware (less thermal tape for RAM) for $10 shipped, let me know.

Yup, even w/ dual 120's. Here's a nice little chart I made while putting on the HR-03.

And here's a pic of what you have to look forward to...:p

Are there any other alternatives for the X1800/1900 series that tosses the air out of the case or are we stuck with what we've got?

I went through the X2 and VF700 and neither helped with case temps @ load. I'm back to a lapped stock cooler and getting decent GPU load temps 70-75c. The idle sucks @ 55c though.

If you've got good external cooling, the HR-03 w/ a nice 120 will be glad to push it up to them. My temps are better than stock @ 100% and barely a whisper to be heard.

Wow, I most certainly did NOT have that problem with the pads when I had my accelero...perhaps mems got so hot it melted to it? Is that even possible? Did you mix paste + pads?
