There are many posts about the various widescreen LCD models from Dell, Sony, Apple, Samsung, and HP but I am finding it difficult to decide which one would be the best. I already have a good CRT that I will be using for graphic design and gaming but I would like to get a nice LCD for regular use such as web surfing and I may even switch my graphic design to it if it is any better (as I have seen some of the smaller ACD screens in action with Photoshop and was impressed). So even though there may have been threads about this sort of thing before, I would like to get a compiled list of user opinions on these various models, thus not only I but many others with similar questions can find their answer here.

I have to say my Samsung 243T :) I love this, my first LCD. I am a big gamer, playing mainly WoW and CS:S, both games look sweet. WoW has great colors in the game, and they come alive on this monitor, and playing it in widescreen mode at the native res 1900x1200 is breathtaking making you feel as if your in the game itself.
CS:S looks awesome too, and it can still be played at 1900x1200 too, the engine handles it no problems.

I have read about alot of issues with the 23" LCD's out there like the Sony, HP, and Apple. There are dead pixels, and color problems >? My Samsung may have a slower response time, but I can take that with the excellent image quality and overall build construction.

Also the Samsung 243T was on sale when I bought it at Fry's for $1700

that 25ms reponse might as well be an eternity. Any thing less than 16 ms is useless.

What response time does the Apple have? I haven't been able to find a definitive answer to this question. Does anyone know for sure?

Actually, that's not entirely true. LCD manufacturers quote the "best case" response time in specs. Generally TN displays are the fastest, but (S-)IPS doesn't vary as much between best and worst case response time. So it's quite possible for a 25ms (S-)IPS monitor ghost as little or less than a TN screen with a lower response time.

The Samsung is most likely the best overall. The apple is great too, but it has some shortcomings.

Also, the manufacturer determined specs do not mean jack. Like the above poster said, the samsung could have an equal amount of ghosting as the apple display, despite the higher response time.

The Samsung LCDs just seem to have the most accurate colors, but you'll have to try them all for yourself.

16ms, it's right on the tech specs page.

Well now I feel stupid, thanks. I just had seen a lot of people posting asking about it and so I assumed that no one could find the info, but sure enough there it is plain as day. Thanks.

And BTW if I were to get one I probably would not be playing games on it, I have a 24" CRT for that, but for general deskop usage and maybe some Photoshoping I may use the LCD which makes me lean toward the Apple.

Honestly, the colors on the Samsungs and the Apples seem to be equally high quaity. I'd get the Samsung since I hear of less problems with it and it is generally much cheaper.

In your sig I couldn't stop but see this
Logitech Z-680's..........................................Crap speakers

I'm sorry, but how are the Z-680's crap? They are nearly the best computer speakers today, if not THE BEST.

I also saw that you have a 19"CRT... but you are speaking of an LCD in the post above. I guess it's time to upgrade your sig? :D

edit:
nevermind; I think I got your sig wrong.... After looking at it again, I'm thinking you have two computers. Am I right? :p

He is comparing the machine he had to the one he has now. He had crap speakers before, now he has the Logitechs. Correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that is what he meant.
