...but the only thing I am worried about is whether the RAM is good enough for a decent OC and the PSU is good enough.

Will run you a few bucks over a grand at the egg. Debating on whether or not I should buy a better HSF other than the one that comes with the retail CPU (spending a little more to go retail for the free Farcry), or if I'll need a Arctic Cooler if I want to flash the vid card to an XT and OC it. As you can see from my sig, I'll be blown away by the thing at stock, so I doubt I'll OC until I burn it in for a while and, as we all do, want more power!
 
Yes, I know, get the best PSU you can, but I'm not exactly sure what that is exactly, without paying a ridiculous amount. I got a good deal on my last comp with an Antec case and PSU, so I haven't purchased one in a long time. Do you think a 300w Antec is enough power to handle it?

As for the RAM, what would you suggest? I know that even if I get extremely high end RAM, it seems like OCing the 3000+ is going to have to be asynchronus, if you want to really get it up there.
 
Ask youself how much am I spending and then answer why is $200.00 crazy?PCP&Cooling 510 will give you life and room to add on. Anything Corsair.
 
Fortron Source is good if you're on a budget. PC Power & Cooling is probably the best, but sorta overkill. Antec Truepower is a nice middle option.
350W should be enough. I'd probably get a 400W just to have some headroom in case at some point you decide you want a high end "gas guzzling" NV card.
 
I have had 2 systems running off this Aopen 300W PS.
Current system is a Barton 2500+, 3 IDE harddrives, burner, DVD-ROM, and will be adding a CD-ROM soon. Also running five case fans usually at 7V but have had no problem at 12V.
It isn't about how much watts it can handle.. it is how well it handles what you need. I think this PS is starting to get a low 5V rail so I need to check it with a DMM instead of trusting MBM and see if I can increase it internally.
 
PSU still checks out fine with a DMM.. 5Volts on the 5V rail. 12.25Volts on the 12V rail.

BIOS and MBM are both off, showing around 4.7V and under 11.5V. Time to ignore BIOS and MBM. Wonder how far off the temp is :confused:
