...Is it really all its cracked up to be? I'm on a budget and my current crappy Wal-Mart HP headset is falling apart, and I need something decent. I'm not an audiophile (I run an HP headset and Audigy SE :p) but obviously I want them to sound good. I play a lot of TF2 and listen to a lot of music, so audio quality is of decent concern, and I use Ventrilo quite a bit so I'd like the mic not to be absolutely horrible.

I'm looking at this for 20 bucks on Amazon, or some of the 40-50 dollar headsets on Newegg. such as the steelseries 4H and PLANTRONICS GameCom 367. Would I be best going for the Koss or one of these two?

Who here has a pair? How are they compaired to a basic cheap headset, or even some of the high-end models?

Thanks for helping.

I'm an audio novice and came here for help, not to be laughed at. Thanks.

Sorry.

The sticky says it all.

I already wrote it. Nothing comes close, lifetime warranty, great sound, etc.

Heck, I am shipping two pairs w/ the zalman mikes to a member in New Zealand. No profit. Just trying to help.

Just tired of answering the same ? is all.

The sticky mentions how they're a great buy, but I was looking for actually user reviews from other members of the [H] on their quality compaired to other headsets they may have, or compaired to the other headsets I listed.

And is the mic really *that* bad?

the mic really is horri-bad yes. Still, the zalman mic is cheap and easy to use. Just slap it on the wire and adjust your input. worth the effort for sure. you won't get a better headphone until you hit the AT line-up but the Koss still has more (not better but more slam) bass than the ATs.

Sorry for being mean. Just tired. There are a couple of member who have chimed in on the sticky. Everyone agrees about the sound so far. Some say they are too small for their heads and clamp down hard. That usually goes away after wearing them for awhile though.

Its good. Its just the mic sucks, as stated. I'm using a super old mic i found in a drawer, and ghetto attatched it to the headset, and it sounds way better than the one it came with.

Koss is great if you want headphones in the "very cheap but not a piece of junk" category. If you're edging up on $50, I'd almost start looking at a few others...although once you add $6-7 for the microphone, it does bring the ceiling back down a notch again.

I enjoy using them. I ended up removing the mic, and just using the Zalman clip-on.

I think that's the best way to put them. They weren't anything spectacular when I heard it, but they were pretty nice all the same, and did justice to the price.

Chaos Ninja, it's ok to trust spaceman. He's never let me down yet. I got the SB40 on spaceman's recommendation and its great even for the $40 I spent on it. I plan to get the higher quality and more comfortable AD700, but, in the meantime, these are doing great. And yes, the mic sucks.
