I'm about to pick up the dell 2408WFP.
The price at $--- *(edit, didn't realize the coupon expired!) shipped is very tempting.

My primary reasons for picking this up is:
1920x1200 Resolution (I refuse to do 16:9)
Multi-function stand (I have a height limitation)
Gaming is satisfactory on this (albeit, I don't game much)
And I could care less about viewing angles.

Any reasons I should NOT buy this?

If you don't care about viewing angles, why not buy a cheaper, bigger monitor (such as the VW266H) and add an Ergotron adjustable stand?

24" 1920x1200 is the sweet spot for me. It's 16:10, and the pixel density is perfect.
Also, the picture quality for text, browsing, light gaming is supposedly very good on this.

I've also been considering this monitor, or anything else equivalent to it. Many of the same reasons the OP stated, in addition to the raw number of inputs this has. I have many consoles that I'd like to use without having to keep switching them around. :3

Are there many other quality monitors with many inputs? Otherwise it's between this or waiting for the new u2410 to come out and stabilize in price. :D

From what I hear, u2410 is going to be pretty spendy in the USA when it first releases. You'll be waiting a year for the price to stabilize.

The dell is going to be a much higher quality panel then any of the TN Panels on Newegg.

How are you going to get the 2408WFP for $395? Because last I checked the 10% coupon was dead.

Yeah, I know...I'm in no hurry to get a new monitor now, I still need to save up a bit. :p

I'm also curious where the OP is finding the 2408WFP for $395...

Dell had a 20% coupon that was stackable with the 10% coupon. That did bring the price down.

But the 10% coupon expired.

So the question is does this guy know about a new coupon?

if you can put up with neon like reds and greens, sure, go for it. i am returning the one i bought a week ago.

Is there a better coupon for Dell monitors right now than the 15% I found? I see someone talking about a 20%...

I just checked, and the 24" is currently discounted by 20% already. That does not stack with the 20% coupon you can find now.

The 10% coupon was the only way around it.

You know of a 15% coupon?

...

Damn, just tested it, doesn't look like it works.

Would there be any coupons that work with the 3007WFP-HC refurb'd when it comes back in stock?

From reading the forum I've been pretty much turned off to the 2408WFP and the HP 24" for a while. I had a major issue with the 2408WFP myself a long time ago, returned it within a week too.

So there's no decent 1920x1200, 24" Display on the market (at least, for a REASONABLE price).

Personally, I think paying more than $400 per LCD is a bit excessive. At least, for a mainstream user like me.

Yes, the first revision of 2408WFP had input lag of epic proportions (60ms or so). I thought this was somewhat fixed in the newer revisions to a lower input lag of 40ms.

I think a input lag of about 2 frames (33ms ) is okey for casual gaming. I've tried the Dell 2408WFP and it was quite horrible just using the mouse at desktop. Even the NEC 2490wuxi which has a lag of 3-4 frames, was too much for me.

I would stick with a TN. They're not nearly as bad as they're made out to be.
