All i ever see on many forums is people complaining about how their dells have faint backlight bleeding, faint noises, a few dead pixels, and so on. Im not flaming anyone, but alot of these rmas you hear about are from people who are asking "Is this enough backlight bleeding to rma it?" "Is this enough....so on.". If you have to ask yourself that question and post it on a forum, then no its not enough. I think the problem is is that someone decided to complain and truly did have a problem, and then some people read it and immediately started investigating their own monitor to look for problems. Then someone notices a slightly lighter area on their montior and immediately call up dell with backlight bleeding. Now i do understand that the 2005fpw has been known to have a good amount of that problem, yet most people will spend hours trying to find some just because. Yet people should also realize that all lcds have backlight bleeding to a certain extend, hence why black isnt true black.

I dont know why im posting this, i dont really like dell, but really people, ask yourself is it really a problem if i have to search for it, if you dont notice it before reading board then its not a problem.

Lets see how you feel after you plunk down $1000 on a LCD monitor and its not perfect.

Eh, I can kind of understand his point...

my 2405 has no dead pixels and no buzzing... however I noticed a slight bleed through at the four corners when watching a dvd that has full black screen sections.

Now, had I not been on this forum, would I have even thought twice about it? Probably not. I would have certainly noticed but not thought too much of it. Now it's got me paranoid about "hmmm I wonder if that's TOO much... I wonder how much is normal?!" which is EXTREMELY hard to quantify, even with people taking pictures of their screens...

But I realize that LCDs are not perfect and that 99.999% of the time you can't even tell there is backlight bleeding, except in aformentioned dvd viewing cases. And the reality is I could probably send my panel back 10 times and not get one that is better.

Now don't get me wrong, I can understand people wanting a quality product... but I do agree that some people SEARCH for problems and, in the end, it lessens their enjoyment of the product :(

It is a bit ridiculous to hear stories of people sending back panel after panel after panel... obviously the technology isn't perfect and if you're not prepared for that, then just return it and buy something else... there are some nice CRTs that may be more for your liking :eek:

For me, I'll trade the slight backlight bleedthrough for that 0.001% of the time in exchange for greater enjoyment the remaining 99.999% of the time :)

Really? I was under the (false?) impression that this backlight issue had been fixed in the 2405 version.

I ended up getting 2 replacement panels before I decided I am fine with the last one they sent me. The first replacement I got was even worse than the first - but thankfully all 3 have had zero dead pixels.

)

Almost all LCD"s have that, its not a 2405 only thing and my two 2405's had it.

You sent them back just for bleed-through?

If so, that is bad.... :( True there is such a thing as EXCESSIVE.... but it's always going to be there in some form.

This forum just makes people paranoid :p

Really though, how often do you look at an black screen? Because that is the ONLY time I can see it (I can't see it in games, even when it is dark, or on my wallpaper with a black border... it is only noticeable when watching a dvd with the lights off in a FULL black screen)

i believe the op should not have the right to comment until they spend that much money on a monitor.

also, if dell charged a flat $700 for this monitor and had free shipping then i wont compain. but the fact is that dell charges $1299 msrp and still chrages you for shipping etc and stuff. some of us have paid almost $1000 for this unit even WITH a coupon. if we pay this much money for a monitor then we have the right to demand perfection
